We are thrilled to be contributing to this esteemed auction with our reserve “Pontem Pinot Noir.”
At Willamette: The Pinot Noir Auction, wine trade professionals get to experience what makes Oregon remarkable, exemplified in unique expressions of the best Pinot noir from local wineries.
The Pontem Story:
In 1982, old-world Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc vines were among the first of founder Tom Huggins’ plantings for Eola Hills Wine Cellars. Their roots run deep, and have put forth intense and complex fruit after years of struggling against phyloxera. In the early 2000s, new-world Pinot Noir clones 114 and 115 were grafted to this rootstock creating a bridge, or pontem, across the generations. We celebrate this push-and-pull of the old and new with this blend, truly the last of its generation.
